For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16
During prayer this morning we prayed over this scripture several times but instead of saying just saying “God” we described the Love that God is.
For Love so Loved the world…
God is love. His eternal love is abundant and resourceful. It is victorious in every way.
For Love, eternal and overflowing, infinite in all mercy, abounding in compassion and mercy, was so love-towards-us that Love sacrificed itself and delivered itself up to the violence of the world and was crushed and tasted death. Love was so confident that it could overcome all hatred that it let the hatred of our world rest upon His shoulders. So, now, Love can pour out upon all men in fullness, transforming their violent self-extinguishing hatred into ferocious, death defying love.
We confess that the Love of God is more powerful than the hatred and violence of this world. We confess that the Love of God will be victorious in our lives today. We declare a war on the Hatred that would stand against the love of God. The weapon that destroys the hatred is simple: a heart receiving the love of God.
