Jan 28 – Basking in the Presence

Deep calls to deep
in the roar of your waterfalls;
all your waves and breakers
have swept over me.
By day the LORD directs his love,
at night his song is with me—
a prayer to the God of my life.

Psalm 42:7-8

Prayer this morning was like we were sitting on the beach and the waves and breakers of God’s love were washing up onto the shore. We rested beneath the presence of his wings. We spent time in silent adoration. We were refreshed by the long waters of his love and peace.

The presence of God is like a banquet that is laid out for us. But we are like people who have been enduring a famine. Our stomachs are small and dried up. We have very little appetite for God. As we meet with him, as we feast upon his goodness, as his waves and breakers pour into our mouths – even cleansing the deepest parts – our appetite will grow.

One person at prayer saw a picture that we are like a sponge. As we soak in his presence we will absorb it and then we will be wrung out over a dry and thirsty world.

Be Blessed
