We are wrapping up our first three months of morning-prayer. As we continue in our quest to seek the face of God, it can be helpful to remember what God is doing and to look forward towards what we are expecting.
I can personally testify that God is at work in my life and the life of my family. Laura and I are experiencing more grace in communication and shared vision. We have recently been accepted to the Master of Divinity program at University of Chicago which is an answer to lots of prayers from our family but also many others who have been praying on our behalf. (Just this past fall Ed and Ginny, Joyce, and Michael Naskrent spent time in prayer with me while I was unemployed. They prayed for direction and clarity of vocation. Those prayers are coming to fruition.)
We have seen people who have committed their lives to Christ. In some cases these people have been beating down our doors! We have seen the healing of Bill's sister, who went from a brain-dead state to total recovery. We confess that all of these things are gracious out pouring of the love of God as we become better receivers of his love.
Up in Rockford, Fil Herbst has been experiencing similar breakthroughs in prayer. He recently saw a friend's mother healed of cancer and another friends grandmother miraculously recover from a stroke with absolutely no paralysis.
We aren't asking for millions or Mercedes. We are simply looking for God to have his way in our midst. And we are excited to see it because we know He loves us.
We aren't without needs. Our family needs to sell our home in order to be able to afford going back to school. The market and commonsense tell us that this likely won't happen. But God has called us to his ministry and He will make a way. Our church needs resources for the upcoming move into the building and the financial responsibilities that will come with it. There aren't many who are financially thriving in this climate. But God is on the move. We know that he will watch over us. We still haven't seen any breakthrough in reaching out to Luis Rocha at Menard Prison. He is a big part of my prayers and I want to see God break into his life.
There are more prayers to be prayed. We are just beginning to learn how to turn our gaze towards Christ who is our all in all. We are seeing the small droplets of rain but we need a storm. My heart is excited that God's love is both infinite and eternal. It can never be exhausted. It will never end. We have begun to press into it. But even if we receive as much of his love as fast as we can for the rest of our lives, there will still be an eternal and infinite amount that we have not yet experienced.
He Loves us, because He loves us, because He Loves us, because that is what He is like!
Seek His Face Always
