"In recent days the Lord has inspired in me a great desire for holiness...I have been thinking of how far a soul can ascend if it lets itself be possessed entirely by God."
-Oscar Romero (Martyred 1980)
Oscar Romero was a Catholic brother in San Salvador who many know as a passionate defender of Human Rights. But this passion was built on seeking after the face of God. Below are some of the disciplines he employed to let the soul be entirely possesed by God.
1. Love for the Church
2. Tendency to make a very deep examination of conscience
3. Mortification and penance through his duties
4. Providing protection for his chastity
5. Eagerness for contemplative type of prayer
6. Finding God in others
7. Fidelity to the will of God
8. Self-offering to Jesus Christ
Romero was assassinated while celebrating the eucharist.
